Finally, the triathlon has come and gone. The kids helped us prepare by trying on the swimcaps. Jonah and I decided to enter as a team as he isn't so hot at swimming (he sinks) or running (he has bionic knees) and I am generally a wimp. So I did the swimming and the running part and he kicked bootie as the master biker. He passed like 25 women! And he was riding a $10 Trek bike from the DI. And he was wearing a polyester shirt. Sweet as.

The kids were the best cheerleaders ever. When Aniston heard I was running in a race (!) she HURRIED and made a number of flags and this great poster, which she taped to a large stake. Jonah and I did pretty well and got 82nd of 400 men (they put our team in the men division), which isn't too shabby, considering a WOMAN did most of the race. Face, dudes. They also messed up our times and added most of my swim time to Jonah's bike time, so I was up at the score board checking out the posted times with all these sweaty athletes and I go, WHOA! I REALLY beat my time...I got nine minutes on the swim! The whole crowd went silent and then they all asked me my secret and I just told them I am a mermaid. Actually, I got 28 minutes on the 1/2 mile swim, Jonah did 32 minutes on the 20k bike, and I made 35 minutes on 5k. Aniston was walking with me after the race and said, "When you were a kid, were you fast?" and I said, "heck no! I was really, really slow." And she said, "I knew I had figured it out.... if you are slow when you are a kid, you are slow when you grow up!" And I said, "You mean you think I'm slow?!?!?" and she quickly tried to cover herself and said, "No! I mean No no no! You are really fast, mom. You did so great! You did such a good job!" Finally, she's learning some tact! Don't always have to say it exactly how it is, Ana.Anyway, we had a great time and I am so sore and tired from the event and from training all week, but I still really want some more people to come do it next time. I am the furthest thing from an athlete, so maybe that's why I get such a kick out of these triathlons. Thanks to Ben and Ashley for pulling me out of bed to go to that first one. Come next year adn give it a try... the family who sweats together...

Hey Aja!!! CUTE KIDS! I have no idea how I found your blog---I linked from one blog, to another, and to another...and here I am. Looks like you are doing GREAT!!! So, I've found you and Megan Henry and some others and thought it would be fun to have a site where we could kind of just list all of our different blogs and see what everyone's been up to. See what you think! http://cantabrigianblogs.blogspot.com

Congrats on a team effort...you too Aniston and Camden..great posters and eyebrows thanks to that cute swim hat. I am VERY impressed Aja and Jonah I knew those leg/knee injuries would be serendiptous some day!
